What to Expect

A Friendly Conversation — Not a Clinical Interrogation

Our free home care assessment is exactly that — a conversation. One of our experienced team members will visit you at home, at a time that is convenient for you, and simply talk with you and your family about the situation, the challenges, and what kind of support might make life easier.

There are no forms to fill in on the day, no tests to pass, and no commitments to make. The assessment is designed to give you clarity and confidence — not to put you under any pressure. You can ask as many questions as you like. You can take as long as you need. You can have as many family members present as you want.

At the end of the visit, we will give you a clear picture of what we can offer, how it would work, and what it would cost. We will also tell you honestly if we think a different approach might suit your situation better — even if that means recommending another organisation. Our job is to help you find the right answer, not to sell you our services.

There is absolutely no obligation to proceed. Many families find the assessment helpful simply as a way of understanding their options more clearly — and that is completely fine. We are not keeping score. We are here to help.

Still not sure? Simply call us for an informal chat first — no need to book anything.

The Process

What Happens During Your Free Assessment — Step by Step

A typical assessment takes between 45 minutes and 1.5 hours, depending on how much you want to discuss. There is no rush.

1

We Come to You — At a Time That Suits

We visit at your home — or the home of the person needing care — at a day and time that is convenient for you. Evenings and weekends can sometimes be arranged on request.

2

We Listen — Before We Say Anything

Our assessor starts by simply listening. We want to understand your situation in full before offering any suggestions — the challenges you are facing, what has prompted you to reach out, and what you are hoping care might make possible.

3

We Ask Some Straightforward Questions

We will ask about the person's daily routine, health conditions, mobility, medication, personal care needs, and social situation. We will ask what they enjoy, what they find difficult, and what matters most to them in terms of how they live their life.

4

We Explain What We Can Offer — Clearly and Honestly

Based on what we have heard, we will explain which of our services would be most suitable, how they would be delivered, and what they would look like in practice. We will give you an honest guide to costs and discuss any funding options that may apply.

5

You Have Time to Ask Us Anything

Before we leave, we make sure every question has been answered. There are no silly questions. No question is too small or too large. We have time for all of them.

6

You Decide in Your Own Time

We do not expect an immediate decision. We leave you with a clear written summary of what we discussed and what we proposed. You can take as much time as you need to discuss it as a family before making any decision.

What We Assess

What the Assessment Covers

We take a holistic approach — looking at the whole person, their home, their routines, and their goals.

Daily living needs — personal care, meals, medication
Mobility and physical health
Safety at home — fall risks, hazards, home layout
Social and emotional wellbeing
Cognitive health and memory
Existing support — family, NHS, other services
Preferences, routines, and what matters most to the person
Communication needs and language preferences
Cultural background and personal values
Carer and family needs alongside the primary person
Funding eligibility — what financial support may be available
Short-term and longer-term care goals

What You Receive After the Assessment

Following the visit, we provide a written care proposal summarising what we discussed, what services we recommend, and an indicative cost. This is yours to keep, share with family, and refer back to at any point — no time limit, no expiry.

Let Us Be Clear

What Our Free Assessment Is NOT

We want to be completely transparent so you know exactly what to expect before you book.

Not a Sales Pitch

Our assessor is there to understand and advise — not to pressure you into anything. We do not use persuasion tactics, time-limited offers, or any other sales techniques. If our services are right for you, they will speak for themselves.

Not a Contract or Commitment

Booking and attending a free assessment does not commit you to anything. You are under absolutely no obligation to proceed with care after the visit. Many people attend simply to understand their options at this stage of planning.

Not a Medical or Clinical Assessment

Our assessment is a care and support assessment — not a medical or clinical evaluation. We are not doctors or nurses, and we will not comment on diagnoses or clinical matters. For clinical assessments, please speak with the GP or relevant specialist.

Not Intrusive or Time-Pressured

We go at your pace. If you want a brief initial chat, we keep it brief. If you want to go into detail about every aspect of the situation, we have time for that too. We do not rush, and we do not overstay our welcome.

Who Is This For?

Who Should Book a Free Assessment?

An assessment is right for anyone who is thinking about home care — whether that is now, soon, or at some point in the future. You do not need to be in crisis. You do not need to have made any decisions. You just need to have a question or a concern that a conversation might help with.

Families who are beginning to notice that an older relative is struggling at home but are not sure what to do next
Adults over 65 who would like to understand what care options exist before they are needed
Family carers who are finding it difficult to manage alone and want to explore additional support
Anyone recently discharged from hospital who is trying to work out what care is needed during recovery
People with a new diagnosis — dementia, Parkinson's, stroke — who want to understand what home care might look like in future
Professionals — social workers, OTs, discharge coordinators — acting on behalf of a client
Anyone who has tried searching for home care and found it confusing — we will explain everything clearly

“I’m Not Sure We’re Ready for Care Yet”

This is one of the most common things families say — and it is completely valid. A free assessment is not just for people who are ready to start care today. It is for anyone who wants to understand what is available, what it would look like, and what it would cost — so that when the time comes, you already have a plan. Planning ahead is a sign of care, not weakness.
